What to download
Download OpenCore-Patcher.pkg for the stable 2.5.1 release when you want the normal install path. Newer OCLP versions require the PKG installer for the privileged helper tool.
Download OpenCore-Patcher-Uninstaller.pkg when you only need to remove the patcher app utilities. Keep the matching version next to the installer you used.
AutoPkg-Assets.pkg stays on the official GitHub release for offline asset pulls. Most Macs pull assets automatically, so this site does not host that large package.
- Use stable 2.5.1 for everyday installs on unsupported Intel Macs.
- Avoid renamed or "prepatched" copies that claim special unlocks.
- If another computer downloads the package, move it to the target Mac with a USB drive.
OCLP and other names for the same app
OpenCore Legacy Patcher also appears as OCLP, Open Core Patcher, OpenCore Patcher, and open legacy patcher. Those names point to the same Dortania project.
- Download OpenCore-Patcher.pkg from this page for the normal install path.
- Skip renamed copies that promise special unlocks or prepatched installs.
- Read the Windows page if you want UEFI Windows on an older Mac. The OCLP app itself runs on macOS.
Official package and GitHub releases
This page hosts the stable OpenCore Legacy Patcher package. Use OpenCore-Patcher.pkg for a normal install.
GitHub remains the upstream source for release notes and AutoPkg-Assets.pkg when you need offline assets.
- Choose stable 2.5.1 for first installs and daily machines.
- Open the GitHub release notes when you need changelog detail.
- Use the Windows guide for UEFI Windows on Mac. Do not look for a Windows OCLP app package.

Back up your data
Use Time Machine or another full backup before bootloader changes, USB installer creation, or macOS upgrades.

Open System Information and compare the Model Identifier with the compatibility guide.

Use a supported base OS for installer creation
You need El Capitan 10.11 to make Ventura installers. You need High Sierra 10.13 to make Sonoma and newer installers.

Plan for post-install root patches
Older Macs often need graphics, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB, camera, Touch Bar, or other patches after macOS installs.
OpenCore Legacy Patcher for Windows
OpenCore Legacy Patcher does not offer a Windows app download. The Windows guide explains UEFI Windows on older Macs and how that install can appear in the OpenCore boot picker.
